emblematic buildings, streets, and Plaza. Each main building history, streets and Plaza will be explained in detail.
The town of Isabela also have a lot to offer in terms of history, culture, traditions, legends, music, art, and beauty. These areas will be deeply covered.
You are lucky because your tour guide is the author of Isabela Anthem, and he will
walk you through his inspiration.
One of the biggest traditional and cultural celebration in Isabela is the Three Kings
Day via the “Fiesta de Reyes Isabelinos” every 5 and 6 of January for more than 25
years.
There are also 2 murals painted in 2 different streets near the Plaza, honoring the tradition and the legendary figures. The tour guide will have a lot to talk about this since he is the founder of the nonprofit organization in front of the event and the murals artistic efforts plus, he is one of the wisemen (Gaspar). Walking tour will cover the wisemen murals and other local artist murals around the town.
CUSTOMIZED TOUR: with a visit to two (2) historical places
First historical place to be visited is the TRAIN MUSEUM (Museo del tren). The railroad museum shows the history of the railroad in Puerto Rico. First Isabela train station, Vapor locomotive, tools used to repair locomotives, first aid wagon for train accidents, short movies, souvenirs, are to be shown among a guided tour.
Second historical place to be visited is The Hermitage of San Antonio de La TUNA.
Around 1725 the first Spanish settlers moved into the Isabela area, which they originally called La Tuna. Between 1725-1750, they built a church (hermitage in English or ermita in Spanish) called “San Antonio de Padua”, and a community near the Guajataca river.
Over time, it was decided to abandon the town and move closer to the ocean, where the town of
Isabela is located today. The ruins of the original church have been preserved for future generations by the
Mabodamaca Corporation, and it is listed on the US National Register of Historic Places.
